BABY FOOD JARS Recycling Tips
Decorative Storage Containers
"A kindergarten teacher my daughter had used to have the kids
decorate them. the used white glue and tissue paper cut into
squares. Then the teacher coated the decorated jar w/a glue "wash"
and the kids rolled them in sparkles. Great project for keeping the
little ones busy when the are a little older...Something else I've
used them for is storing herbs I've dried myself such as parsley or
lavender. Just big enough to make you feel you've accomplished
something."Submitted by Vicky
Baby Food Jar Organizer or Mobile
"I have two ideas: you could screw the lids to the bottom side of a
wooden wall shelf (use two screws so the lid doesn't spin) and then
the jars could be used for spices, nails and staples, and little
knick knacky sort of material. Very easy access by just screwing the
jar into and out of the lid. Heck you could even just make a
decorative statement and fill with a variety of food coloured water
or marbles or some such thing.
Another idea could be to make a hanging mobile out them.....one with
a chandelier type effect by using tea lights in them. Just use fine,
decorative wire and wrap it around the threaded lip of the jar.
Add decorative twists to the wire ends, or add beads.....could be
very attractive and or funky!!!"Submitted by Lisa
Make baby food jar candles!
All you need is a large pot, fill it 1/3 full with water and
place a coffee can or any can in the middle. Warm the water to less
than a boil. Place a parafin wax block in the can to melt. I also put
in a crayon for color. When the wax is melted, drop some
potporri oil in it for fragrance. Use a funnel to fill your jars. You
can decorate the lids with fabric and raffia.
Makes good gifts:)" Submitted by Julee
Make homemade water globes
" To make waterglobes you will need the jars, water (I
use distilled), glue, glitter, 1' polyresin figures (I buy them thru
the kids school fundraisers, can get 18 for $5.00) with the hanging
loop cut off and a small can of spray paint. Directions: Paint the
jar lids & let dry. Glue the figures to the inside of the jar lids &
let dry. Fill the jar with water, add a little glitter & put lid on
jar. Shake & enjoy." Submitted by Cindy
